The little story…

The property of L'Escarderie is one of the most attractive Châteaux of the area with its stream running from the Château La Rivière through the property amongst the oak and elm trees. This stream once fed the old mill of the Château L'Escarderie.

The first home disappeared in the 19th century, to be replaced by the very comfortable present day château resting on a hill top.

In 1813 the property was passed on to M. Bourges Saint Genis whose daughter married Theophile Lacaze who remodelled L'Escarderie. All his free time was devoted to his artistic talents, especially painting. That’s why a lot of his paintings are nowadays exhibited in Libourne’s museum.

From now on, the property has remained in the family. After being neglected for over fifty years, we undertook to restore it in 1982 to become the charming property it is now.
